The new Companies Act 2014 commenced on the 1st of June 2015. This is the single biggest piece of legislation enacted in the history of the state, consolidating and updating the previous 17 Companies Acts into 1 single piece of legislation consisting of 1448 sections, broken down into 25 Parts. This represents a significant change for Irish Companies and Irish Company Directors. Please see the flow graph below and the notes accompanying below which should give you an indication of what this change means to your company. For a more in-depth look please see our Head of Company Secretarial Marie Grogan’s presentation on The Companies Act 2014 from our Path To Growth series of talks by clicking here: New Companies Act 2014 Slides

The new Act also modernises and simplifies company law, especially with regard to companies limited by shares. If company law is something that could affect you, please take a look at this short explanatory document Company Law Update
